Please don't confuse this for a
Hive account@sweetsssj travel post. I know it's not easy to tell us and our posts apart, but there won't be any photos of the beach, pretty food, or nice ladies in bikinis here.
Loyal readers of my blog may (or may not) recall my trip to hell a couple weeks ago. Well, more of a reverse hell, where everything is so cold you run out of proper extreme words to describe it. Also known as Wisconsin in December.
Well, the wife
Hive account@morodiene and I got really tired of being cold 25 hours a day, 8 days a week. Also, our holiday visits were done. So...back to Florida we go!

There and Back Again

Yknow, there's a lot of things going into holes or coming out of holes in Lord of the Rings...
When it's this cold, all you want to do is sit and watch TV with a space heater and a blanket and a laptop. Only the most minor fragments of productivity is possible.

This is what a sad Florida car looks like after a week in a Wisconsin winter. Salty. Like me.

Hitched to my tow dolly, I use three separate straps. Because I'm freakin' paranoid. Can you imagine how very bad it would be if the car fell off the dolly at highway speeds? I can. It'd be bad.

The rolling fields of Wisconsin. Stark. Harsh. Cold.

Arrived in Chicago for our first stop to stay with my mother-in-law, where it was a heart-stopping -25F windchill that night. I'm surprised my camera even worked. My fingers were numb after the first photo.

Went out to a super cute little Italian place, Lucca's , for a late dinner.

Brick walls and art and other fancy things.

Tiny bar area, but we didn't sit here. I wouldn't have minded though. After hours of driving in the cold, an adult beverage would've warmed me right up.

Not packed at all for a late Thursday night. Fine with me! Now gimme some food.

Who goes to an Italian restaurant and orders a burger? Me, that's who. I also had a very nice Belgian beer, Pranqster from North Coast Brewing. The wife had a chicken thing, and the mother-in-law also had a chicken thing.

Onwards we go! Southern Illinois is full of wind turbines. They look pretty dramatic on a field of white.

Welcome to Louisville, Kentucky! Probably a nice city, but it's still cold here, so we do not stop.

What the hell. Sauron has his own office building. Maybe that'll work out better for him than the whole Middle Earth thing.

Atlanta, Georgia traffic. We have never seen the traffic this light. It's always bumper-to-bumper. Nice!

Parked for the night in Forsyth, Georgia, after a good 14 hours of driving. Futo enjoys the warm dashboard…

While Shoga observes.

Yes, we stayed at a Walmart in Forsyth, Georgia! This was a really nice one. Huge parking lot, very quiet. Going to put this one on our future list of good Walmarts to park at.

Found a motorhome sibling across the way. I wanted to go up and knock on their door and say hi, but at 11pm at night I didn't think that would go over well.

So nice and well-lit. Not scenic, but quiet, which is key to sleeping. If only the cats could be quiet at night.

And suddenly, the next day….Welcome to Florida! Yay!

The wild, untamed plains of Florida. Everything so green.

Rolled into our neighborhood late Saturday afternoon. So nice to be home.
I spent the weekend washing the salt off the car and motorhome. More salt than a Chinese buffet. Then I turned my attention to unpacking, watching football, drinking beer, and telling myself I will never subject myself to such nasty winter weather again. I will likely ignore my own advice...next Christmas.
