Arc de Triomf
For #monocolorsepia challenge, created by my dear friends and
I will show two photos instead of one.
This is the triumphal arch in Barcelona, Spain. It was built in 1888 by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas as a main entrance for Barcelona World Fair that took place at the same year. Made of reddish brick and stone the arch is elaborated by statues and carvings. The front freeze was made by Josep Reynés and contains stone sculpture "Barcelona welcomes the nations". On the other side, designed by Josep Llimona, is shown a prize-giving ceremony.
The arch is built in Neo-Mudéjar style which is type of Moorish Revival architecture in Spain.
The name Arc de Triomf is in Catalan language.
Source of information - Wikipedia and Barcelona - a view on cities
These pboto shots I made when I was in Barcelona for a bit longer trip from work. The weekend was free and since I love to explore the cities I am visiting, I took a very long walk. Although I have been in Barcelona numerous times, each time there is something new to discover. The metro station was near the arch and from there I reached the zoo and continued to the beach front.
Now back to the challenge - the mono version of the photos.
And the sepia tone.
Images taken with Nokia N8.
Thank you for visiting.
