Around Early December I decided to take a trip to Budapest with a friend because it's cheap as hell, and why not??
I have to say, living in Barcelona where it doesn't drop below 10C it was in a bizarre way comforting to be in an actually cold environment.. ya know.. with snow and stuff. Budapest itself was beautiful and they really went full out for Christmas, especially so in the square in front of Saint Steven's Basilica.
All the vendors around the square selling mulled wine, hot pastries, goulash in a bun, paprika a million different ways, it was definitely a distinct cultural experience.
We also went ice-skating around a castle. Don't get much of that around Barcelona.
and as well checked out the mineral baths, where we sprinted between different steam-covered pools
as well we took a brief guided tour of the city and got an awesome view from across the bridge and up the hill near Matthias Church.
Highly recommend visiting Budapest for Christmas, it was an awesome experience, they know how to do it!
