Driving around Iceland, you will see some amazing and beautiful things. Well, everything you see will be beautiful. The whole trip was the highlight for me, but a place I thought particularly striking and stunning was the Eastern Fjords. This region may be home to the most dramatic coastline on Earth, or at least one of them. The steep mountains shot up from the cold and choppy Northern sea and shone bright and green against the deep Icelandic sky. The road ran directly along the fjords, only a small fence protecting us from the edge of the sea cliffs. Colonies of puffins sprang up as we drove the coast, as well as coves and rocky outcrops that jut up from the water.
The colors of the region were deep greens from the hills, deep blues from the ocean, and azure blues from the clear, clean, cold Icelandic skies.
Words and photos can't give justice to the fjords, only eyes. So, if you can, book a flight, rent a car, and discover Iceland on your own!
I love Iceland.
