Hi everyone! Today I’ll be sharing my very short and unplanned trip to Singapore and how it happened.
On a trip to Thailand with my bestie over a year ago, I got a chance to go around the beautiful city of Singapore. As I said, this was unplanned. We had a 9-hour layover on our way to Thailand, and another 6 on the way back. (I didn’t book the tickets, so this wasn’t my choice). It was a really long wait, in fact longer that the whole one way flight, but it turned out to be a very nice experience.
Hello, Changi Airport!
Me and my bestie @ Changi Airport
Nine hours may feel like forever if you’re waiting for something, but not at Changi Airport. There’s free internet access, charging stations, parks, shops, even massage chairs! Truly one of the best airports in the world.
We didn’t try to go out of the airport because it was almost midnight when we arrived and we weren’t sure if we would be allowed to. (That trip was both our first international flight, so we really have no idea.) We just slept on the floor, which is carpeted by the way, until it was time to board again.
We’ll skip the whole Thailand Trip, that’s for another blog.
At this point, I was already ALONE.
My bestie had to meet her other friend in Thailand and decided to stay longer. I had no choice but to go home without her. It was okay for me to ride a plane alone (the airlines had excellent service) but my concern is the other 6-hour layover. Like, what am I gonna do there?
Good thing I remembered I have a friend in Singapore. I contacted him and he agreed to accompany me there. I still wasn’t sure that time if I was allowed to go out of the airport, so I was very nervous as I approached the gates. Turned out it was really OKAY and I just had to fill out some forms.
Hello, Singapore!
(outside of the airport)
By the way, this friend of mine wants to remain anonymous because he doesn’t want our common friends to also ask him the same tour! Haha! (He had to leave work early to meet me.)
Well, I wouldn’t bore you anymore with my words, so here’s my mini pictorial courtesy of my friend at SG and some of my own shots.
Since we only had two hours, I missed a lot of the other attractions. But the places that I was able to visit already showed the beauty of this highly-developed country. It was very clean and modern. But the thing that I loved most about my tour is this:
Seriously. If I had the chance to come back, this is no. 1 on my itinerary. Hahaha. I swear it’s not like the ones here in Ph. Try it and you’ll know why.
Thanks for reading!
