I really expected to be back to visit
a lot earlier than we made it here tonight.
We only had about a six hour drive today, but one thing led to another. We started a little late, then hung out with the father of a little longer than expected, which was just fine in our opinion, but then...
ANIMALS EVERYWHERE!!!
So, we stopped to hang out a little longer with the brother of , who just happened to live next to this irrigation canal. On thing led to another, and soon, I was knee deep in the mud, having a blast.
Like many of the canals, it was full of Softshell turtles, which are one of my favorite. They are super fast and difficult to capture, but the situation worked out really well, and we caught five turtles total, four of which were softshells. I should be putting out a video on it later.
Then, at the gas station, Monster Truck located a small colony of Green Anoles. Soon we were having all sorts of fun and entertainment capturing and photographing the little lizards. The fact that the whole family gets involved makes it that much more fun, especially for me.
Later on, just before sundown, we noticed a cool spillway we wanted to check out, so check it out we did. While some of the stretched their legs and wandered around with
, the others went closer to the water with me.
Sure enough, before too long, we had found a baby water snake! People say it's more about the journey than the destination, and thankfully we can enjoy both tonight. It was a good trip, with a lot of fun along the way, but it did slow us down a bit. It's good to be done travelling for night, especially with nine more hours to go tomorrow!
As always, I'm
and here's the proof:
