For those who accuse me of shitposting, I freely confess that this is one time they are right. This post doesn't really contain much substance. I'm posting it here simply so I can have access to it later. This is a list of the cities I've visited, and I'll be updating it about as often as I update the Table of Contents. The main reason I'm thinking of it is because it was 10 years ago today that I bought my first international air ticket (for a February 22 flight to Shanghai, China, which would turn out to be life-changing).
For clarification, I pin a city if I have done any of the following.
- slept there for a night.
- consumed a meal there.
- been stuck in traffic there.
- stopped to take photos there.
I do not include cities where I only stopped for a bathroom break while on a road trip. I don't include cities where I had a layover on a flight, unless of course I tried the local cuisine during said layover (see above).
And of course, there are a lot of God-forsaken little one-horse towns in the US where I slept in a truck stop during my mercifully brief stint as an OTR truck driver in the US (God above, what a waste of my academic credentials), that are not listed on this map because I didn't even stop to get the name of the town I was in. Suffice it to say that if I did, the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa and Wisconsin would basically be an orange blob because I was continuously running up and down the freight lanes there for that entire phase of my life.
North America
Europe
Asia
Oceania
Total at time of post: 246 cities. 10 countries (The US, Mexico, Ukraine, Turkey, China, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, & Thailand) and 27 US states (plus D.C.); 3 continents, 3 oceans seen, and one trip south of the equator.
...It's a start.
