Moving on from Blue River and Hickory Point we have found a nice spot north of Muskogee, OK on Ft. Gibson Lake. Next to a very large state park are two free camping areas, Wahoo Bay and Jackson Point.
Wahoo Bay is one of the best free camping sites in Oklahoma we have found. There is lakefront access, boat ramp, vault toilet, running water at several spigots. The individual campsites have a fire ring with grill and concrete picnic table. Full solar spots can be found also. There are probably around 15-20 total campsites.
A few days ago we walked down the road to the state park that has paid cabins, RV hookups, and primitive campsites. There is also a marina with restraunt, boat slips, and a heated fishing dock.
Here at the state park you can get a hot shower for $0.75/5 minutes and also do laundry. For a boondocker that enjoys 100% off-grid this is a great area to bounce around for free and get your essentials done. Nearby is Okay, OK ( yes it's really named that), Muskogee, and Tahlequah for most of your shopping needs. Tulsa is about an hour away.
You can see from my photo above that the catfish are biting. Several boats have been put in here probably to go crappie fishing. Otherwise we have seen very few campers and no long-term campers like us. It has been been pretty peaceful here and cell coverage is good.
