A few months ago, I had the opportunity to visit Takengon. On Friday night we rushed to go to Takengon which took about 8 hours from Medan. This trip just happened without any planning, so I only had 2 days to explore every corner of the city. But some of the beautiful views I shot there.
The city has many nice places you can visit, like around Lake Laut Tawar giving a very natural scenery. The lake is wide, blue, and clear. You can enjoy from the edge of the lake, hills, or when around it from the boat.
In addition, the city is also famous for producing coffee, it's Gayo coffee. So make sure to try this city's typical coffee while looking at the beauty of the lake. Not only that, some restaurants around the lake is also interesting to visit. You can try various menu of grilled fish and fried fish very delicious. You can take a walk around the lake. There are several hotels on the mainland jutting into the lake that you can visit to enjoy the lake closer. There, you can fish or just relax while enjoying the cool of the wind.
The majority of the people who live there are Gayo tribes. They are so friendly that you will be welcomed when you come here. Most of those around the lake work as fishermen and farmers. I am very enjoy when I see their activities, it looks like they life is very peaceful.
