Gwangjang Market (광장시장) is one of the oldest and largest traditional markets in South Korea. Formerly called Dongdaemun Market, its origins go back to the Joseon Dynasty in the 17th century.
Currently, the market has over 5,000 shops and 20,000 employees. The estimated 65,000 daily visitors come here for meat, fish, vegetables, textile products, souvenirs, among other things. It is also famous for Korean traditional food, most notably the bindaetteok (빈대떡), mung bean pancakes.
I recently took a photo walk at Gwangjang Market. Here are some of my favorite images.
