hi all,
so next we have a look at some of the passage tombs. Even though these sites where called tombs, that was not what they where constructed for. These Chambers were built for meditation.
- Carrowkeel, Co Sligo
This site can still be entered but with the state of decay you need to be very careful when inside these chambers.
Nearly all of these chambers can be found close to or in the middle of the magic mushroom growing areas. These where built by the ancient Irish for the taking of magic mushrooms, with these chamber built to block out all of the background noise from the universe, making it ideal for the exploration of the mind. There are 11 of these passage chambers at this location in various states of decay.
the center of this chamber has collapsed and this site can no longer be entered.
The next site has a lot of destruction due to it probably being the oldest and also the biggest site in this collection of chambers and has lost a lot of the stone cairn that covered the site. This does allow a good look at the layout of the inside of the chamber which has a multitude of side chamber of the main corridor allowing multiple areas for meditation.
The view from these site is one of the best in Ireland with a full 360 view of the surrounding area.
The next site was a bit of a climb to get to.
The front of this site has completely collapsed with most of the interior buried under the cairn stones, although you can walk over the stones to the back stone, which has a cold draft of air coming out through the cracks, which may entail some kind of hidden chamber behind this stone.
2 Achill Island.
Next we have a lovely site in a lovely area.
And once again what a view from this site.
i hope you enjoyed a look at some of the passage chambers found in Ireland. more can be found at my website www.shee-eire.com
