In Bulgaria, many people know this place as Kaleto. The fortress has an incredible history that starts in the ancient times. It decorates on the north slopes of the Balkan Mountains. The site surrounded by over 2 meters thick walls hide many secrets. Nearby the castle is another unique site known as Belogradchik Rocks. Belogradchik became one of the fortresses of the Ottoman Empire in 1396. For centuries stayed an important localization for the conflict with Ottomans. The fortress was in use last time during the Serbo-Bulgarian war in 1885.
