Today we went to one of the most beautiful mountain places I've ever seen, Green Lake, near Bardonecchia.
We took the car and went up to the hermitage "I Re Magi", beyond Melezet, a hamlet of Bardonecchia. Here we parked and, backpack, we walked toward Lake Green. The trail, at the beginning, very quiet and flat, towards the end is lost in the woods between boulders and trees that hide it almost entirely, but remains simple and easy to reach all those who love to walk.
Forty minutes walk, quiet and serene, with scents of all sorts and sounds that can only be felt in the mountains, between fields and small blocks of houses first, streams and trees after, until the goal is unique and totally unexpected! All of a sudden, a tree of green so-called green water imagines it, even now that I have been, it seems impossible: so small and silent, so brilliant and cool, a small paradise immersed among Trees and rocks! Here you can stop sunbathing, bathe your feet, eat a sandwich lying on the rocks in the sun or shade of a tree, and always in the most complete peace.
The return is just as enjoyable, and if the day is as beautiful as the one that happened to us, the landscape that opens to your sight coming out of the woods, with the Valle Stretta that creeps between the mountains and the village of stone houses and Wood, it's spectacular...
