A couple weeks ago we visited Busch Gardens!
It was a bit of a drive, but it was worth it! A friend that had free passes to both the amusement park and the adjacent water park invited us to come along for a day of adventure!
After riding as many coasters as we could handle, and getting bumped and bruised, we decided it was time for a more laid back ride.
We were informed that there is a train that goes through their Serengeti area! There are no fences and the animals could come right up to the train if they so chose!
In fact, quite a few decided that they wanted to stand on the track. So the ride took a bit longer than it usually does.
Zebras and rollercoasters!
During the stops at the intermittent train stations, we had spectacular views of the rollercoasters as they ran.
It was so strange to see the animals completely unfettered by the amount of noise from the screaming passengers. I suppose since most of them have been exposed to it for a majority of their lives, they have gotten used to it.
Gazelle lounging in the shadow of Kumba!
They said you had to keep your arms inside the train at all times but I would have enjoyed giving one of these a pat if I had the chance!
Off in the distance, you can see some of the rhinos they have roaming their Serengeti!
All of the animals in this area are free to wander the 65 acres available, but they also have pens which are completely optional.
Well, they did say that the animals tend to get close to the train!
Very close! I wonder if they have ever rammed it? That would have made for some interesting footage!
Rhino don't care.
Here is an interesting bird we saw towards the end of the tour. Sadly, we didn't catch the species! Anyone know? Leave a comment below!
Thanks for coming along on safari with us! Keep an eye on
's blog, there will be a full-length video of the tour coming soon!
In closing, enjoy this gif of a sole worker getting to take the ride of his life during a maintenance run on one of their most popular coasters!
His job definitely has some perks!
Until next time, stay wild!
