Highlands

The road through the Highlands from Edinburgh to Inverness passes through the Cairngorms National Park with its moors and wild mountain landscapes. At each stop we could hear the language of the locals with astonishment, for us particularly unfamiliar the rolling rrrr, which seems to occur in every word, at least you hear at first only r-lute. However, the understanding is not a problem, because I have met the Scots as a very friendly people, and also the normal English language they manage easily.

Die Straße durch die Highlands von Edinburgh nach Inverness führt durch den Cairngorms National Park mit seinen Hochmooren und den wilden Berglandschaften. Bei jedem Stop konnten wir die Sprache der Einheimischen mit Erstaunen vernehmen, für uns besonders ungewohnt das rollende rrrr, das in jedem Wort vorzukommen scheint, jedenfalls hört man zuerst mal nur noch r-Laute. Die Verständigung ist aber dennoch kein Problem, da ich die Schotten als sehr freundliches Volk kennengelernt habe, und auch der normalen englischen Sprache mächtig.

Loch Ness

Every visitor to Scotland must of course search there for the fabulous monster, but we were not lucky and so the legend must continue to be believed.

Jeder Schottlandbesucher muß da natürlich hin und das sagenhafte Monster suchen, wir hatten jedoch kein Glück und so muß die Sage weiterhin geglaubt werden.
