The State Opera and the National Theatre
Our second night in Vienna involved a little bit more class and culture than our previous nights of rowdyness and partying. This time, it involved a visit to the National Theatre and an actual opera play in the world famous Vienna State Opera. The play we watched was La Tosca which was sung in beautiful Italian. The play is set in Rome at war, year 1800 and is about an opera singer, Tosca and her artist lover Mario Cavaradossi, who helps an opposition leader and garners the attention of the Chief of Police Scarpia who is madly in love with Tosca and will do anything to see her in his arms, including getting Mario out of the picture. A little bit more complicated than Love Island!
See how elegant it is inside the building as well as outside. A little treat for you, you're not normally allowed to take photos inside a play but I tried to sneak a shot in of Act 5 during the suicide of Tosca.
