It’s a known fact that the surface of iron objects when exposed to air or moisture forms a coating of rust on the surface.Wonder what would happen to a 1600 year old pillar crafted from iron and being exposed to harsh conditions for such a long period….Well definitely ruin to rust.But this isn’t the case with the Iron Pillar at Delhi.
Forged around 1600 years old,it is said to have been built during the golden Gupta dynasty., weighing 6000kg and measuring nearly 24ft the Pillar has not rusted yet.The pillar currently resides in Qutb Complex a UNESCO World Heritage site alongside the famous Qutb Minar.The Pillar was relocated here and the current place of it’s origin is still debated.
