Are these figures reflective of pain or strength?
My favourite haunt in Adelaide is the Art Gallery. And my all time favourite piece of art in the gallery is Thomas
Hirschhorn's Screw Sculpture. Kids were fascinated with the twin mummified looking bodies in the middle of a beautiful hall with walls holding paintings.
From a distance, they look like spiky bronze statues. Elegant and shinny! When I got close, my initial impressions were of humans in pain, their bodies pierced with nails and screws being altered or transformed.
This piece was completed in Paris, France 2011 and later that year acquired through the Art Gallery of South Australia's donor foundation.
