Bogota, the capital of Colombia is splendid. Its tourist icon? The famous Mount Monserrate, which is a must see for whom have the fortune to tour the city.
As a detail of first wedding anniversary, with my husband I planned a trip to this beautiful capital, where we met different places, each with something to contribute. Little by little I will share them with you, today I wanted to show you the beautiful illuminated view of Bogota from the Mount Monserrate.
To climb the 3152 meters high there are three options: walking, the funicular and the cable car, we chose the latter, it was like 4 in the afternoon, so we enjoyed a good time until nightfall. Since you are in the cable car you begin to admire the view of the city, I recommend locating you on the left side of the cabin. At the top the cold increases but do not worry there are some kiosks that sell hot drinks.
We drink milo, which is an exquisite chocolate drink and we accompany it with delicious almohabanas. If you want to eat something more gourmet you can enter the restaurants of the hill: Monserrate parrilla and Casa San Isidro, both have a nice style and a careful attention.
At the summit the hill hosts the Basílica Santuario del Señor Caído de Monserrate, inaugurated in 1920 with colonial style. Celebrate masses every day at different times.
When leaving the basilica, we went to the back, where we found a series of souvenir sellers. We made some purchases, among which: vueltiao hat, borrachitos (bonbon chocolates with liquor-filled centers), jams and arequipes with coffee, we also prove a typical drink called calentadito, to finally get off in the cable car.
Our experience was very enriching, due of the spectacular view of the city and the kindness of its inhabitants.
