Here are some more photos from one of our recent Caribbean cruises. This is on the scenic island of St. John, which is the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. We decided to take a nature hike and beach excursion through the Virgin Islands National Park which takes up the majority of the island.
After walking through the nature trails in the national park we were lead down to a secluded beach area that is on the opposite side of the island from the everyday public beach area. Here the views were very tranquil and the beach was empty except for those of us in the tour group. There were no "tourist" type activities here, no jet skis, loud music, or anything to disturb the peacefulness of the experience.
There were several private sailboats were anchored in the calm waters just offshore.
Most of the vegetation is similar to that found here in South Florida, since we have very similar climates, so there wasn't anything overly exciting about the nature hike besides learning some island survival tips from the tour guides.
At the end of the visit we walk through an old sugar mill and plantation, the views from there were incredible.
