Today I took my mother to Redcliffe , Queensland, Australia about an hour and a half drive from my home, as my mother wanted to attend her friends 60th wedding anniversary. While she was at their party, we had some time to explore the town.
There was a Sunday market that had the beachside Esplanade closed to traffic , so we parked our car to explore the market. As we walked amongst the stalls I came across this amazing moving sculpture powered by the wind.
The sculpture was at least 10m high and the 2 orange hoops were memorising to watch spin and whirl in the stiff sea breeze.
The sculpture was created by Phil Price in 2011 and is called Opto. I found this art trail mapon the local Morton Bay council website.
If you like the Bee Gees music group there is also a connection to the town of Redcliffe and a sculpture in their honour.
