Chedi or pagoda is one of the important parts of temples in Thailand. The shape of the chedi is mostly an inverted bell. However, the details of the design, architecture, and decoration of each chedi are different.
Chedi in Wat Phu Khao Thong is a good example. It’s an ancient chedi that has unique architecture and beautiful design. It’s located in Ayutthaya province.
Wat means temple
Phu Khao means mountain
Thong means golden
You may call this temple, “Golden Mount”.
The overall shape looks like a mountain with many stairs. You can climb up the stairs and admire the surrounding countryside. It is a spectacular view.
The chedi is situated on the top. It looks outstanding from a far distance. The body of the chedi was built with white stone. Some parts of the chedi are decorated beautifully in golden color. It’s very lovely and impressive.
I think plenty of white clouds make the chedi look more fascinating. I love these!
Not far away from the temple, you will see a monument of King Naresuan with the magnificent chedi in the background. He was the greatest King in the Ayutthaya reign.
At the base of the monument, you will see many statues of colorful giant plaster chickens. We believe if we worship the monument with these things, we will get good fortune.
This is the same belief at Ai Kai Wat Chedi in Nakorn Si Thammarat province, as I presented to you 4 years ago, @tangmo/ai-kai-wat-chedi-nakorn-si-thamarat-province-in-the-south-of-thailand.
The following photos are the statues of the chickens in various sizes in the area nearby Ai Kai Wat Chedi at present.
Ah! That's our belief! Really incredible, right?
