Greetings Steemit community!! I´m excited to be a part of this movement with you, and I hope that I can contribute with some valuable content in the areas that are my passions: Technology, nature, math, finance and business strategies.
So I will kick my first post off with something that lies close to my heart: hiking.
Exploring mountains and the outdoors is a way of life for many Norwegians. Our love of nature might come from our unrestricted right of free access in the countryside, including national parks, as well as the easy access to it. So, if you ever plan to visit Norway I have gathered some info about the two of our most iconic hikes:
Besseggen
The hike over Besseggen runs between Gjendesheim and Memurubu. You may want to begin with an overnight stay at Gjendesheim before taking the boat to Memurubu and walk back to Gjendesheim from there.
The stunning views of the wild Jotunheimen and the steep passages gives a great feeling of accomplishment. The tour is not particularly difficult, but you should allow about 8-10 hours for the entire hike which is about 16 kilometers long. The main season for Besseggen is in July, August and the first weekends in September, and are easily accessed by a 4-hour bus ride from Oslo.
Preikestolen
Located just outside of Stavanger (25 kilometers), Preikestolen is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Norway with over 270.000 visitors every year. The hike takes about 1-3 hours depending on your pace. The best time to hike Preikestolen is between April and October.
