A lovely view to wake up to in the mornings while I stayed here at the Bale Mountains Eco Lodge. We were always up early in the forest mainly because as soon as it was light our 'neighbours' Thick-billed ravens would come and peck on the glass windows of our accommodation. We wouldn't have wanted to miss a moment of daylight here anyway.
If you ever get a chance to visit Bale montains (which I thoroughly recommend) you should make the trek up the mountain that looks like a man riding an elephant. The view from the top is spectacular with the vast forest spread beneath you. It takes about two hours to walk although I once ran up in 40 minutes but I wouldn't recommend that! I would have loved to have few beers up there and watch the sunset but an alcohol inspired journey down throught the muddy bamboo forest in the dark would probably not be the best idea.
