Who says you have to go to Venice, Italy to see the canals?! All you have to do is wander through the streets behind Venice Beach, California and you'll eventually stumble upon the Venice Canals. These man-made canals were developed in 1905 by Abbot Kinney in order to re-create the appearance of the true Venice. At the time they were created they covered 3-4 times the area that they do now, but over time a lot of them were covered to become streets. Those that remain have been restored and the homes here are extremely sought after and expensive. Owning a place here is definitely on my list of future goals now!
