All over the world there are incredible and unique places. We
want to bring them to you so that you can be inspired to visit them!
Today, our post is about the Streets of Valletta, in Malta!
Valletta is the capital of Malta, located to the East of this Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea. It is its biggest city and a mandatory place to visit when you travel to this region! We
will keep unveiling this incredible old city, where every street and every corner seems to be filled with History. Stay tuned! :)
Today, we will focus on the geometry of Valletta, one of the oldest cities on Europe to have been meticulously planned and designed so that its streets remained perpendicular to each other, inside the walls that defended the city from several attacks.
In 1980, noticing the importance of Valletta and the good state of preservation of this city, the UN declared its historical center a World Heritage Site. Don’t you think how easy is it to understand why this happened?
Of course, there are much more to see in the city than just walking through it, but believe us… The atmosphere is impressive! You can sense and smell the influence of the British Empire, of the proximity to North Africa and of the Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem.
In due time, we
will be talking about it, but for now, just wonder at some of the photos that will certainly make you book the next flight to Malta!
Oh! And don’t forget that a walking through the historical center of Valletta tastes better with… A Pastizzi filled with ricotta cheese! :)
