Hello Steemian friends,
The day has finally arrived! It's not only Friday, the start of the weekend, but we're currently at the airport waiting to board our Hong Kong flight! We're super excited!
"Holiday! Celebrate! And have a real good time"
Before we go on with our post, we don't know the outcome of this post as Sam is writing this on his phone, so hopefully the format will be good enough. Also, we would like to inform you all that since we will be in Hong Kong until late evening on Tuesday, we will not be posting on Monday and Tuesday for Random Monday's and Tasty Tuesday's respectively. This way we won't upset our host for being anti-social by being on our phones and we get to enjoy the time we have in Hong Kong. We will try our best to reply to any comments, but please forgive us if we don't until Wednesday.
Double check, triple check, always check
When going on a holiday whether it's a long haul or short haul, long weekend or for many months; we always have to check we have everything we need for the trip.
"Did you remember your passport, Becca?"
Becca is constantly reminded about her mishaps of leaving her and her sisters' passports at a hotel in Maputo (that's another story for another post). Yet, these things happen. Therefore, we make a list and always check with each other that we have it. This time around since we're going for a long weekend, we're sharing a bag and sharing some toiletries like toothpaste, moisturizer (got to keep that skin moist) and body gel/shampoo. The important things on the list are:
- Passports (yes, Becca, those)
- Wallets/Travel Money (enough to keep us going for a day or two, but being cheap we try to maximize it)
- Phones and gadgets (in today's modern world, a necessity to keep in touch and take those Insta-perfect photos)
- Snacks (it might be a long journey and airport shops are expensive)
Water bottle (empty and full at the airport - got to save that money) - Clothes (enough to rotate twice for certain clothing - not really underwear as well as seasonal wear - jumper and scarf weather or swimming trunks and flip flops?)
- Toiletries (your necessities)
There might be other things on your checklist that are personal to you and that you need.
Remember your passport! Off we go to Hong Kong!
Is there anything you would add to the essential list?
Yet, we didn't apply our principal to 'always check' as we forgot one thing - the chunky and essential travel adaptor! Not only as the plugs might be different, but we have stayed in many rooms where there is only one plug and we often fight for it to charge our devices, so the adapter is used as an extension lead. Buy at the airport? Are you kidding, you can get a day's meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for the price. Luckily, we researched and know now that the plugs in Hong Kong are the same as Thailand. However, we have to hope the room our host will give us has more than one plug socket. First world problems!
We hope you all have a productive or non-productive (if you need the rest) weekend! And always:
Stay Classy Steemians!
