January 2nd! We got out of the hostel, looking for new adventures; THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD!!
Our new house on wheels was waiting for us to be refurbished by his new residents.
And it was time to pick up our new best friend Sabien! Driving on the left went pretty well and our house is very comfy.
Of course Sabien was waiting for us with a glass of wine when we got there. After loading her stuff and the groceries, the car was getting full. Sabien got the best place; on the bed... Totally illegal of course, but there are only 2 chairs so we had to do something.
We also found our first glamping through the app wikicamps. According to the app, the place had a toilet building, covered picnic tables and trash cans. All we needed! Gass on it!
Full of enthusiasm and big eyes we got drove onto the terrain. Or... was it just a piece of land next to the highway with a toilet? Yes, that's what is was! But it was quite busy so we just made a party with a bottle of wine and snacks as real backpackers.
It was cold that night and we felt so sad for Sabien to dump her the first night in a pink tent next to the road... So we decided to sleep in the bed with the 3 of us. Well, lets just say it was a little bit to tight and Carmen had to listen to 2 snoring ladies!
The second day we drove miles and miles, and then arrived in the middle of nowhere... Thanks Wikicamps! Unfortunately, you never know what you find beforehand. Nevertheless, we drove on to a campsite somewhere else with some help of a sweet old man. He brought us to a horse breeding farm where you could also sleep. Thanks oldie!
In the evening we made our first meal with the tools in the car. Our own pasta and it was delicious.
In total, the 3 musketeers did the Great Ocean Road in 3 days and saw the most beautiful places! Great viewpoints, bright blue seas, kangaroos, koala's, a visit to the chocolate factory (YUMYUM) and of course the 12 apostles!
Meanwhile, a picnic here and there, enjoying wines in the evening, see the Australian sun and we played monopoly and yatzee.
And not to forget... our many illegal unpaid nights in the parking lots. Of course, we always had to look for a good unobtrusive spot for Sabien's bright pink tent. That has occasionally been a challenge.
So we had a very good spot for the 3rd night! Next to a campsite so we could use the toilet facilities, picnic tables and amazing views on the beach. We had already had an entire plan: good spot for the tent and a sneaky way to get onto the campsite and we would set our alarm early so we could see the sunrise on the beach.
And then suddenly.... There were 2 tough daddy's with a car full of children and fishing gear...
'Daddy, I need to pee ...'
'No worries, you can go for a pee right there'.
Okay, this boy was just peeing on the place where we wanted to set up Sabien her tent.
'Daddy…. I also need to pee '
'No worries, just go next to your brother'.
And also he was emptying his bladder on Sabien het spot!
You may guess... but of course, number 3 had to pee as well. Anyway, to make a long story short: the 3 boys have just been pissing in Sabine's "bedroom" (including the dads)
Welcome to the glamping life!
Sab had finally set up her tent at THE spot and to complete the story we have just sat peed ourselves next to the tent (hihi).
The next day the sunrise was amazing! Alone on the beach we sat in our chairs and waited until the one and only sun comes up out of the ocean. Super!
And then suddenly the Great Ocean Road had come to an end. Time flies when you're having fun. And we really did (except for the flies, they were everywhere!).
So tomorrow we will have a day of traveling ahead, so we hope to find some WiFi and share our post about the amazing Grampians with you!!
