Tree Tuesday as Travel History Post
During our recent vacation in Djerba we also enjoyed some trip to visit old traditional Berber settlements to see how these people lived in the past. A nice old community can be found on the island with a lot of Trees (or palms).
About the Berbers
The Berbers descent is North Africa and there are lot communities across Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Egypt to name the most known ones. The Berbers name themselves Imazighen and speak various dialects / languages related to Ancient Egyptian. Nowadays the majority of Berbers live in Morocco and Algeria as well as large immigrant communities in Europe and Canada. The Berbers live a strong identity across different languages and heritage which covers their joined history in North Africa which is what they mainly unite in terms of collective identification.
