Today we woke to another shitty continental breakfast and we're off early to a leather demonstration. We just kind of walked off because we couldn't be bothered sitting through another money grab after the perfumery in FRAGNAT, Nice. We got a hot chocolate from Lindt which was pretty much just melted chocolate as is the custom in Italy we were soon to learn. It was very rich, but delectable. There was no way either of us could have finished a full one on our own.
We saw a lot of lovely statues and a beautiful bridge with coloured houses lining the water. After our short tour ended, Zac and I were grateful to have some time to ourselves. We decided to treat ourselves to an expensive gourmet lunch because we were just so over highway food stops and shitty continental breakfasts.
We ordered what we thought was bruschetta but because of the language difference we ended up getting this really nice cheese (buffalo I think) and tomatoes and like a salad thing. It was actually amazing though. I also kept saying 'Merci' instead of 'Grazie' which was embarrassing. For lunch I had this wonderful pesto gnocchi which wa delicious. I also accidentally ordered a Campari thinking it would be a sweet, diluted and safe cocktail similar to a vodka soda. Boy was I wrong. That shit was so strong I couldn't drink more than a few sips. Zac could smell it from across the table. At least we got a refund for the drink since I didn't drink it. Pretty sure the waiters were kind of offended that I didn't drink it rip.
Following lunch, we coincidentally met up with the Paris table gang and Lauren and got some gelato from the place that Cam recommended. God what a good recommendation that was. The gelato was to die for. I got Nutella and pistachio and I don't think any gelato I have from here on out will ever match the creaminess and utter deliciousness of that gelato.
Some of the sights we saw in the morning that I forgot to mention earlier in this entry included the famous Duomo church and the famous Florentine bridge. It was also awesome to see a lot of politically influenced street art.
In the night we set out for a Tuscan four course meal where we ate such a huge amount of food that even I couldn't finish everything and honey that's saying something. After the wonderful dinner, we went out to a space disco club with our contiki group, Zac sporting one of the many new sexy shirts we bought for him in H&M this day and me sporting a jumper from the same place. I know this isn't important but Zac was wearing his avocado socks I picked out. They're so cute.
ANYWAY SO THE NIGHT CLUB...
I had two mojhitos and even that in combination with the wine I had at dinner couldn't get me drunk enough to enjoy that scene. The most fun I had was rapping gold digger. Apart from that it was kind of shitty. There were leery fat and old Italian men everywhere but mostly it was deserted because we got there so early. We pretty much just stayed for the free mojhitos then left. Some of those men were borderline harassing people.
I was glad to call it a night early.
Love, Izzy x
