Is it Any Good? Sort of, Don't Expect Too Much
If you are in Noumea and searching for craft beer, the look no more my friend! Head on down to Les 3 Brasseurs on the beautiful Lemon Bay where you can enjoy the comings and going of locals and the tourist hordes. A lot of people forget that Noumea is out in the Pacific and complain about the prices and what not. In reality, for the location and effort that these guys have to go to source the base ingredients for their products - it's really impressive. The beers are not world beating - they don't need to be. It's much more about the experience: French craft beer in the tropics. Hazar!
Our waitress wasn’t overly friendly or really memorable to be honest. She wasn't rude and seemed happy, but showed little knowledge of the beers and the story behind them. The location (looking out over Lemon Bay) is sublime and is a big part of the over experience. I could happily sit there all day drinking beer watching the world go by. Inside Les 3 Brasseurs needs a little love. The fit out is starting to show it's age and most of the fittings around the pace show quite a bit of ware. But, your not going for the decor!
If you can't stay all day and try each beer by the pint, try the tasting paddle. like any good craft brewer Les 3 Brasseurs gives you the opportunity to sample (for a small fee) each of their beers before you land on a favorite or favorites. I preferred their blonde. Unfortunately I didn't have time to try the food, but it looked good.
You can get to Les 3 Brasseurs very easily by taking the Hop On Hop Off bus and alighting at Lemon Beach. Conveniently, buying a ticket for the bus will give you a discount coupon for beer! Happy days. Check out the photos below.
