It's been a while since we've wandered somewhere and shared with you the places we've been to!
Hello everyone! It's wanderwithtwo here! 👋
Since we've been away from Steemit for some time, there might be some new people on Steemit. Just a short little intro, we are a couple from Sydney, Australia who loves travelling and eating and we use Steemit to share the things we've done, seen and experienced and hopefully it will act as a recommendation for our readers who might be interested to experience the things we share 😊.
Back tracking to last weekend, we flew from Sydney to Gold Coast for a family event. Seeing that the weather is warmer as we are in mid-Spring and Gold Coast is usually much warmer than Sydney, we decided to book an accommodation which allows us to go for a swim between family activities.
Of course when looking at accommodation, it was a little difficult. We travelled with 2 other couples which meant that there were 6 of us in total and we needed a place to accommodate all of us as we didn't want to split up in different hotel rooms. Defeats the whole purpose of a family trip too!
When the requirements from everyone came flooding in, it included wanting a swimming pool, close to the beach, close to transport, has a car park (we hired a car during our stay), airconditioning, blah blah blah... and most importantly it can't look old and must be clean. Believe it or not, it took a long time to find a place and to get our booking accepted because on the same weekend there was a HUGE event happening at the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast 600 (car racing event) was happening that very weekend and most of the places raised the prices of accommodation and some were getting pricer by the day. We had a few rejections from hotels as they were over booked and booked out and so glad that we finally found one that was available.
We were lucky to have found this place via Agoda which accommodated to all our requirements and it was a little last minute just as places were being sold out.
We stayed at a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom serviced apartment Mantra Sierra Grand in Broadbeach. It was extremely convenient staying at this place. We had a shopping centre and the casino right across the road from the accommodation, only a 5 minute walk down to the beach, 7 minute walk to the Broadbeach Mall and the tram and bus stop was also just across the road from where we stayed.
The apartment had big balconies and lovely views. It was spacious and also had a decent sized kitchen, spacious lounge room and has it's own laundry and study table. Perfect for families and groups.
Facilities included the gym, one indoor pool with sauna and spa, one outdoor pool with a spa.
Here are the views we had for the weekend.
Night view was gorgeous too!
For 2 nights, this cost less than $110 AUD per person in total which is considered a really decent price especially with such a big event happening and for the services and facilities provided at the Mantra Sierra Grand. The receptionist was the only staff we interacted with and she was extremely friendly and bubbly. The rooms were clean too. If we happen to pick up such a good deal again, we wouldn't mind staying at this place again.
