Clark's Island
If you are the adventurous type, grab your boat, your kayak or canoe and venture out onto the beautiful Pymatuning Lake in Pennsylvania for a lovely sightseeing trip.
These photos were captured in August 2017 by my son Ben on Pymatuning Lake and Clark's Island, a short canoe trip from the road. No people inhabit the island, but some adventurers travel to the island to hike these woods and enjoy it's unsullied peace. The beauty, as the photographs depict, is extraordinary.
There are no paths, so wear appropriate shoes and clothing. You may just come across some interesting species.

Chicken of the Woods
If you come hungry you can make a meal out of this mushroom Laetiporus.
It gets its nick name Chicken of the Woods because it is said that the mushroom tastes like chicken. A quick search notes that it is a common fungi and, as this photograph shows, it makes a very beautiful one on a mossy, decaying log.

Spiney Orb Spider
My son and his friend met this little lady.
They have never seen one before but I did some Googling on this one and found out that Gasteracantha has a harmless bite. I call it a he because the article said that the female has orange spines and is larger. The males are very small. More on this arachnid here
The Fishing is Great - Channel Catfish
My son bagged a this catfish. There are many catfish and trout in Pymatuning Lake. These catfish can grow up to 30 pounds

Sunset on the Lake
Nothing ends a day on the lake better than watching the sunset on the water.
I hope you enjoyed this trip into Clark Island!
