Eid Al Adha Festival
Eid Al Adha is a festival in Islam known as the Sacrifice Festival. It falls on the Tenth day of the Islamic month Dhu Al Hijja, the month named after the annual Haj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Muslims believe that the Prophet Ibrahim/Abraham (A.S.) received the commandment of God to sacrifice his son Ismail. When Ibrahim wanted to do the command, God accepted his obedience and instead a goat was sacrificed. To honor the Prophet Ibrahim’s (A.S.) response, Muslims sacrifice a goat, a sheep, a cow, or a camel to Eid Al Adha, which lasts until the 13th of Dhu Al Hijja.
It is advisable to keep some part of sacrificial meat for the family, some to give to the relatives and the needy people as charity. The days of Eid Al Adha are an opportunity to worship the Allah (Subhan Taala), enjoy food and drink, to wear new clothes, to visit family & friends and to give gifts to children.
Prices: The sacrificial animal prices were high in Sharjah / Dubai's most important livestock market on Sunday / Monday, a few days before the Eid Al Adha, which begins in the UAE on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. The prices for goats, which most people prefer as victims for Eid Al Adha, ranged from about 1500 to 4000 AED.
Yesterday - 22 August 2018, second day of the Eid - cattle sellers reduce animal prices in Sharjah / Dubai livestock markets. Livestock prices are determined by supply and demand, animal weight, health, diversity, country of origin and negotiating skills.
