Hello Steemit friends, I'm back! It has been a while since my last post but I have been hopping around Malaysia.
After spending a few days in Kuala Lumpur we decided to get out of the big city and explore a bit more of the country. First stop was the Cameron Highlands. Located 200km from Kuala Lumpur, the Highlands are Malaysia's largest hill station.
To get the Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur we took a bus leaving from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) which is next to Bandar Tasik Selatan on the KTM Komuter line. We purchased a ticket for 35RM at the bus station but I recommend booking the ticket ahead of time online if you can. It was quite busy at the station and we had to take a later bus than we had planned.
The bus took just over four hours and we arrived at the town of Tanah Rata. It is the largest town in the Cameron Highlands district and where the majority of shops, accommodation, and main bus station are located.
One of the main attractions of in the Highlands are the tea plantations that surround the area. We took the local bus from Tanah Rata to the Kea Farm area and hiked our way towards the BOH Tea Plantation.
We walked for 3km next to the fields before arriving at the BOH Tea Center and enjoying a cup of tea. You can find a large variety of tea as well as cakes and scones to enjoy while taking in the beautful view from the terrace.

After we finished our tea, we decided we weren't ready to head home quite yet. Earlier on our walk we had seen a sign for a strawberry farm and thought some fresh strawberries sounded good.
Nestled in between the tea fields we found our strawberries!
We grabbed a basket and some scissors and went to work picking some fresh strawberries.
It was a great snack after our long walk!
There are many tours offered around the Highlands area that will take you to tea plantations, strawberry farms, bee farms, butterfly sanctuaries and much more. There is also a local bus every hour that will drop you off at the various tourist hotspots if tours are not your thing.
The Cameron Highlands was a nice quiet spot to visit after busy city life. I recommend visiting if you love beautiful scenery, hiking, and relaxing in nature!
Until next time,
Chantelle
