I've said for a long time that the best way to get to know someone and whether or not you'll get along with them in the long term is to take a good long road trip with them.
The same is true of solo trips.
As I said in a previous post, I've been kicking around the idea of an extensive solo road trip around the western half of the US. Rent a nice vehicle worth sleeping in, pack a bunch of film/digital/video/audio gear, and just drive. If this thing actually comes to fruition - well, first of all it won't be for a while. Probably not this year. But if it does, I think it would be cool to stop and hang with some fellow Steemians around the country. So far, aside from 3 visits with family & friends, I'll be sleeping in my vehicle a lot throughout my trip, so having the ability to stop along the route at a chill place to hang and take a shower would be nice.
This is just a first draft of my route. I'm sure it'll go through its own fine-tuned evolution before it ends up happening.
Drive time is slated to be 100 total hours (just over 4 days), not including stops for rests, visits, or photo opportunities - the last of which I plan to make many. I'd say I can knock this out in less than 10 days.
Here's the list of stops along the way:
