Full Moon Party
We are lucky to arrive right before a full moon party which is also the beginning of the Flowmads Festival.
The festival seemed too alternative for us but the party itself was a must!
So we walk in and get ourselves some hippie camouflage to blend in.
Wir Glückspilze sind genau vor der Full Moon Party angereist, die auch gleichzeitig der Beginn des Flowmads Festivals ist.
Das Festival schien zu alternativ für uns, aber die Party war ein Muss!
Also spazieren wir rein und beschaffen uns Hippie-Tarnung, um reinzupassen.
They really go crazy on the fire show for four hours. At midnight they finally switch to music and we stomp the night away!
Sie geben bei mit der Feuershow vier Stunden lang richtig gas. Gegen Mitternacht endlich der Umschwung zur Musik und wir stampfen durch die Nacht!
Adventure Adam and the Bioluminescent Plankton!
Enough party! We want to see the beauty of the island Koh Rong!
So we book a day trip at Adventure Adam for 25 $ (=20 €); oh yeah, in Cambodia they use US Dollar aside the local currency “Riel”.
Genug Party! Wir wollen die Schönheit der Insel Koh Rong erkunden!
Also buchen wir einen Tagestrip bei Adventure Adam für 25 $ (=20 €); achja, in Kambodscha verwenden sie US Dollar neben der lokalen Währung “Riel”.
After snorkeling at a small island we head over to the east coast of Koh Rong to go fishing. We pass by wonderful white beaches until the boat stops and fishing rods are handed out. They don’t look promising and I don’t expect anyone to catch a fish. I just head to the toilet aka ocean and do my business watching people fail. But they don’t! Plenty of fish are caught which we get served afterwards! Awesome!
Nachdem wir bei einer kleinen Insel schnorcheln, geht’s weiter zum Fischen an der Ostküste von Koh Rong. Wir fahren an wundervollen weißen Stränden vorbei, bis das Boot anhält und Angeln ausgeteilt werden. Die sehen allerdings eher schwach aus und ich erwarte nicht, dass jemand etwas fängt. Also geh ich die Toilette aka das Meer und verrichte mein Geschäft, während ich Leute beim Fehlschlagen beobachte. Aber das tun sie nicht! Viele Fische werden gefangen, die wir später gegrillt serviert bekommen! Wahnsinn!
Our next stop is a local village called Preksway. It’s on the opposite side of the island - far off the tourism. The guide named Mars does a great job enlightening the group on how to behave and be respectful.
The local ladies produce coconut oil and like to sell it to tourists while wearing pajamas.
Unser nächster Stopp ist ein reines Einheimischendorf namens Preksway. Es ist auf der anderen Seite der Insel - fern ab des Tourismus. Der Guide namens Mars ist sehr bemüht, die Gruppe über angemessene Verhaltensweisen und den respektvollen Umgang mit den Einheimischen aufzuklären.
Die einheimischen Frauen produzieren Kokosnussöl und verkaufen es gerne an Touristen, während sie Pyjamas tragen.
Later I meet a lady without a pajama drying clothes and cashews. I decide to grab some cashews for one buck. This was the real stuff, I tell you.
*Später treffe ich eine Lady ohne Pyjama, die Wäsche und Cashews trocknet. Ich entscheide mich für ein paar Cashews für einen Dollar. Das war der gute Stoff, ich sag’s euch.
She wants to see the photos afterwards and laughs at every photo. I don’t know what her deal was but I think it was cute.
In the end we go to the local school, where volunteers teach english and then we check out temples.
Weiter geht’s zur örtlichen Schule, in der freiwillige Englisch unterrichten und danach sehen wir uns noch Tempel an.
Every rag on the thread up there stands for a citizen of the village.
Already hungry for lunch we leave the village and head over to another place to eat.
A beach called “Lonely Beach” is our destination - free from garbage and unhealthy amounts of feces! I’m pleased!
This one deserves his name. It’s really remote and few people stay here. For that it’s even more beautiful:

Ein Strand namens “Lonely beach” ist unser Ziel - frei von Müll und ungesunden Mengen an Fäkalien! Meine Veehrung!
Dieser Strand verdient den Namen sogar. Er ist wirklich weite vom Schuss und kaum jemand ist hier untergebracht. Dafür ist er umso schöner:
On our long trip along the west coast we spot a double-beaked bird. Possibly a Rhinoceros Hornbill.
What you do when seeing great stuff is grabbing popcorn - we had weird asian stuff instead:
Am langen Weg entlang der Westküste sichten wir einen Vogel mit Horn. Womöglich ein Rhinozerosvogel.
Für gewöhnlich schnappt man sich Popcorn, wenn man etwas tolles sieht - bei uns gibt’s anstatt dessen komisches asiatisches Naschzeug:
Fish sticks or dog food, jack fruit flips, dried beef, pea flips with coconut, some fortune cookie rolls, deep-fried beans and another weird sweet.
We’re getting closer to my personal main attraction, as we go ashore the last time. The bioluminescent plankton! I’m so sceptical! People told me we wouldn’t see it because of the moon and whatsoever. I’ve got no expectations at all. Let’s just enjoy the sunset and see what happens.
*Wir nähern uns meiner persönlichen Hauptattraktion, als wir das letzte Mal an Land gehen. Das biolumineszierende Plankton! Ich bin so skeptisch! Leute haben mir bereits erzählt, wir würden es wegen des Mondes nicht sehen und so weiter. Ich habe keinerlei Erwartungen. Genießen wir einfach den Sonnenuntergang und sehen was passiert.
Did you know that this fine and soft sand has such tiny particles that they actually squeak, when you step in with force? Got a short video :D
Wusstest du übrigens, dass dieser feine, weiche Sand aus so kleinen Partikeln besteht, dass sie quietschen, wenn du mit Schwung reinsteigst? Hab hier n kurzes Video davon :D
Back on the boat it gets dark quickly. Clouds above us - no moon.
Everything's looking good. We stop. Most of us already are tipsy. Safety instructions, everyone gets snorkeling gear and off the boat we jump. Lights off.
You’re fully responsible for yourself in the current right n---WHAT?! WHAT THE HECK!! HAHA oh my lord this is craaaazy! I start laughing and swallow water. I shout with the snorkel still in my mouth. Everywhere are glowing stars surrounding my body! :D
This feels as if you’re gliding through the cosmos and upon your arms movement the stars twirl inside their galaxies. Next level stuff right there.
The chemical reaction within the plankton which makes them glow in the dark is triggered by my movement. When I’m still, it’s all dark. When I move my hands in front of my face, hundreds of tiny green triangle shaped particles twirl around them. The more movement, the more light. I look around and see people kick under water, hence weak clouds of light forming underneath them.
I could swim in this until I drown. That’s how awesome it is.
Zurück am Boot wirds schnell finster. Die Wolken hängen über uns - keine Spur vom Mond.
Alles sieht gut aus. Wir halten an. Die meisten sind schon angeheitert. Sicherheitseinweisung, jeder schnappt sich Schnorchelausrüstung und runter geht’s vom Boot. Licht aus.
Hier bist du nun voll und ganz für dein eigenes Wohl verantwortli---WAAAS?! WAS ZUM GEIER!! HAHA, Alter Schwede, ist daaas verrückt! Ich beginne zu lachen und schlucke Wasser. Ich schrei mit dem Schnorchel im Mund rum. Leuchtende Sterne umgeben meinen Körper! :D
Das fühlt sich an, als würde man durch den Kosmos gleiten und durch die Bewegung der eigenen Arme werden die Sterne in Galaxien gewirbelt.
Die chemische Reaktion im Plankton, die selbiges zum Leuchten bringt, wird durch meine Bewegung ausgelöst. Wenn ich ruhig bin, ist es finstern. Wenn ich meine Hände vor meinem Gesicht bewege, sehe ich hunderte winzige grüne dreieckige Partikel, die um sie herumwirbeln. Je mehr Bewegung, desto mehr Licht. Ich sehe mich um und erblicke Leute im Wasser rumtreten, wodurch sich schwach leuchtende Wolken unter ihnen bilden.
Ich könnte hier schwimmen, bis ich ertrinke. So genial ist das.

The inside Travels
Right now I’m doing what I always wanted to do or am on my path of doing so. Although there are lots of things I can be grateful for, I sometimes find myself in situations where I’m far from being happy.
Regarding productivity I still feel like I’m doing too many things and none of them with the needed intensity. It’s the challenge of quality and quantity right there.
Aktuell mache ich genau, was ich immer machen wollte bzw. befinde mich am Weg dort hin. Obwohl ich für eine Menge Dinge wirklich dankbar bin, finde ich mich selbst oft in Situationen wieder, in denen ich alles andere als glücklich bin.
Betreffend Produktivität fühle ich mich noch immer so, als würde ich zu viele Dinge machen, aber nichts davon mit der notwendigen Intensität. Der Herausforderung von Quantität und Qualität stehe ich hier gegenüber.
Ordering some Cambodian Amok to go along with studying.
I created a morning routine to get myself into the right mindset, I created an evening routine to properly reflect. Since this shall be life rather than holiday I put myself into this pattern to not become a hippie by accident.
I’m not sure if I’m not asking too much of myself though.
Earning money isn’t a priority right now but being happy would be.
So that’s one thing that gets me thinking a lot.
Ich hab mir eine Morgenroutine zugelegt, damit ich ins richtige Mindset komme und eine Abendroutine, um ordentlich zu reflektieren. Schließlich soll das hier eher das Leben und kein Urlaub sind - so hab ich mir dieses Muster geschaffen, damit ich nicht versehentlich zum Hippie werde.
Allerdings bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob ich nicht zu viel von mir verlange.
Geld zu verdienen hat momentan keine Priorität - glücklich zu sein allerdings schon.
Das ist so eine Sache, die mich sehr zum Nachdenken bringt.
I’ve spent several days in paradise but way too much time reading on my computer instead of just enjoying the sandy beaches.
Am I throwing away great opportunities and concentrating on how to make my life instead of living it? Or am I just doing the right thing?
Ich war einige Tage im Paradies und habe viel zu viel Zeit an meinem Computer lesend verbracht, anstatt die sandigen Strände zu genießen.
Lasse ich mir großartige Gelegenheiten entgehen und mein gegenwärtiges Leben an mir vorbeiziehen, während ich mich auf mein zukünftiges konzentriere? Oder mach ich genau das Richtige?
