A beautiful temple built into the rock cliffs
A great stop in our travels
We had taken the train from Hokkaido south to Ichinoseki, where we got our rental car to explore several UNESCO World Heritage Sites a short distance north. On our way we came upon this beautiful and colorful Ichinoseki Temple just off the small highway. It was a perfectly timed stop, and is settled in a dramatic spot. It really is a stunning setting, with the toriis, large pine trees, and rock cliffs. We loved the beautiful grounds and bridge over a pond as well. This was drawn with permanent brown ink, and the watercolor washes added later.
