Travel Digest
#1 I went on Safari with my Trusty Guide and Saw Big Animals
takes us to Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka. At the Steemitworldmap team we love how
writes about the way he himself experienced his trip whilst adding a note of humor to the post. With this post being yet another prime example. From ending up at a hotel that was more expensive than what he would usually like to spend on accommodation. to booking an overpriced Safari, it is fair to say that
felt a bit like having a "splurge" moment, and that is completely understandable! Now of course, if you're paying more for a service, you expect it to be better, and well, it just wasn't really the case. From a guide that was very mediocre at best, to having to pay an extra entrance fee (on top of the hotel Safari package) are some of the nuisances. But seeing a herd of multiple elephants in the wild and feeling super fancy with a lunch table being set up for just himself, do make up for it quite a bit!
#2 First encounter with THE ANDES !
After a long bus ride from Lima arrives in Huaraz, Peru. The contrast is stark, from the humid and tropical vibe, right into the fresh mountain air and impressive peaks of the Andes. A big part of Huaraz was destroyed during an earthquake in 1970, that in combination with locals always holding on to the option of building a bit more, you'll see a lot of buildings under construction, or still prepared for construction. While the city might not be the prettiest, the Andes back drop, can definitely count as one of the most spectacular natural views. Underestimating the effect the altitude would have, the planned hike doesn't go quite as smooth as expected. But the views, make it 100% worth the struggle and
did an amazing job sharing them with us!
#3 Long overdue Trip Report: from Buenos Aires to Lima
takes us along on her trip from Argentina to Peru, highlighting several places she has passed by. First up is Buenos Aires, the dream city of
and it more than lived up to the expectation; colorful, artsy and vibrant! From here out the trip starts up North first, to see the 7-color mountain and cross into Bolivia. From Villzaon - the first city after crossing the border -,
takes the train to Uyuni. This is where this chapter ends, but we're already looking forward to read more!
