'Star Tower' is a literal translation of the name of the town's tower, and landmark, in Judenburg. The actual name derives from the fact that since 2006 a planetarium is located in it's top. This planetarium is the highest in the world. The tower raises up to nearly 76 meters. The gallery around the tower is at an elevation of 42 meters. A Cafe is located on that level, too.
View from the main square.
Originally built in the late 15 hundreds, it served as a defence and fire watch tower throughout the years. It provides an overwhelming view of the surrounding area, as you can see by the pictures below.

To the flank on the hill on the above picture (looking east) the ruins of castle Liechtenstein are located. It was built in the eleven hundreds and was residence to the local aristocracy of Lichtenstein's. Most important figure being 'Ulrich von Lichtenstein', a knight and minnesinger (living around 1200 to 1276). He created the first biographic novel in german language, about a knight's life and 'Minnedienst' (a knight's homage to his lady).
When you take the (250) steps up the stairs to the planetarium, you'll find a exhibits related to the tower, and the towns history, like a knights armor from Ulrich's period,
and an old clockwork.
It was a really enjoyable trip to this quiet little town, so if you come close, take the chance and drop by.
Stay good, and enjoy your day, Folks!
