There is one beach on Lefkada, due to which hundreds of thousands of people visit this small but very beautiful Greek island every year.
I'm talking about Porto Katsiki.
It is the main natural attraction of Lefkada and one of the most stunning beaches in Greece. High cliffs in combination with green vegetation and crystal clear azure waters of the Ionian Sea create a truly magical landscape.
Porto Katsiki is located on the southwestern coast of the island, quite far from the resort towns. Once it was a little-known, secluded and hard-to-reach place where only goats grazed. Apparently, hence the name of the beach – the word «κατσίκα» in Greek means «goat».

There are two ways to get to Porto Katsiki: by car along narrow mountain roads or by sea on sightseeing boats from the towns of Lefkada, Nydri or Vasiliki. As a rule, most people choose the second way. Therefore, in the summer, Porto Katsiki is a real human anthill.
The cliffs are impressive. Against the background of cliffs, people really look like ants.
In the northern part of the beach, there is a small peninsula where it is very convenient to take panoramic pictures of the sea and the island.
In 2015, one of the strongest earthquakes in recent years occurred off the coast of Lefkada. As you can see, the stairs leading to the peninsula were partially destroyed and had not yet been restored by 2018.
Fortunately, the beach was not damaged.
For safety reasons, dangerous areas near the cliffs were fenced and forbidden to visit.

People swim in the open sea.
Let's take a walk to the beach.
At the entrance, there is a cafe, a mini supermarket and a beach equipment rental office: sun loungers, umbrellas, etc.

The stairs to the beach are cut down right in the rock. The beach is sand and pebble. Pebble is white, quite large.
The entrance to the water is deep, in some places you can dive straight from the shore. On the beach, there are often big waves.
A human anthill, like I said. :)
The Ionian Sea. I have always been fascinated by the color of the sea off the coast of Lefkada.
At the end of the beach, people were much less. We found a small place in the shade right by the cliff and spent one of the best days of our vacation.
Despite the fact that in my personal rating of the beaches of Lefkada, Porto Katsiki is in second place, every person who has come to rest on the island must see this truly unique place.
My TOP 3 of the Lefkada beaches:
1. Kavalikefta Beach.
2. Porto Katsiki Beach.
3. Agiofili Beach.
Thank you for traveling with me!
