Dry Stone and Mountain Goats!
That was what we experienced yesterday as we had the incredible opportunity to hike a small but breathtaking section of Mallorca's renowned GR221, also known as the "Dry Stone Route." We tackled about 10 kilometers of this magnificent trail, and every step offered a new, stunning view of the island's rugged beauty.
The path, steeped in history with its ancient dry-stone constructions, wound its way through spectacular scenery.
We were constantly awed by the view – the rolling mountains meeting the vast blue of the Mediterranean. And as a delightful bonus, we shared the trail with plenty of curious mountain goats!
Their presence added an extra touch of charm to an already unforgettable hike. Our journey took us to the tranquil hamlet of Binifaldó, leaving us eager to return and explore more of this incredible route.
If you're ever on Mallorca and love hiking, even a short section of the GR221 is an absolute must!
On our way back we drove our rental through some scary but also very scenic serpentines through the Serra de Tramuntana.
The Serra de Tramuntana is a mountain range along the northwest coast of Mallorca, Spain, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unique cultural and natural landscape.
Hope you enjoyed our hike!
See you soon!
