Now that I am back in the U.S. and have access to decent Wi-Fi, I would like to invite you to join me on a journey that I embarked on in late March. While others who were on the semester abroad rented out an Airbnb in Sydney for a relaxing break, I flew back to New Zealand to take on the Dusky Track, a week long track that stretches across Fiordland National Park, travelling solo. I will attempt to portray this story in a way that is honest and true to its nature, so keep in mind that this isn't some blissful tale about "finding myself" in nature. As a child, I was obsessed with the Man vs. Wild TV show in which Bear Grylls would take on a variety of locations in the wilderness for a couple of days and teach the audience the proper tactics to optimize their of survival. However staged this show was, I wanted to experience something similar--something that I would grow from. This is a story about confronting the challenges presented to me, and more importantly, overcoming them.
