Dear Steemit friends and followers,
Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I would like to show you another great place for a summer vacation, the popular Nechranice Dam.

Located between the towns of Kadan and Chomutov in the northern part of the Czech Republic, the Nechranice Dam is a vast water reservoir that was completed in 1968.
With a total area of 1,338 ha, it is the fifth largest dam in the country. Built on the Ohre River, the dam was originally meant to serve as the main source of water for the nearby Tusimice Power Station but it has been mainly used for recreation in the past years.
There is the Vikletice Tourist Resort in the southern part of the dam where visitors can choose from seven camp facilities, offering anything from bungalows and wooden bunks to tents and caravans.

The Nechranice Dam provides excellent conditions for a number of water sports and outdoor activities including windsurfing, yachting, fishing, canoeing etc. The natural surroundings of the dam also has a lot to offer - there is a protected natural area that serves as a bird sanctuary and hiking enthusiasts will surely appreciate the great hiking trails found in the nearby Doupov Mountains.
Please feel free to check out some of my other recent posts.
