Dear Steemit friends and followers,
Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, however, I will make a little exception as I will take you to our eastern neighbors to show you one of their most beautiful castles, the famous Trencin Castle.

Located in the town of the same name (Trencin) in the western part of Slovakia, close to the Czechoslovakian border, the Trencin Castle is a majestic medieval castle that was probably found in the 10th or 11th century. Nevertheless, some historians argue that a predecessor of the Trencin Castle (as we know it today) might have been built on the same spot as early as in the 2nd century during the Roman Empire.
Throughout its remarkably long and rich history, the castle has witnessed numerous important events, royal and noble families as well as battles and sieges. There are also many myths and legends associated with this magnificent building, making it a hotspot for fans of mythology and dark tourism.

Listed as one of the National Cultural Monuments of Slovakia, the castle is also home to the Trencin Museum that documents the history and culture of the castle and the whole Trencin Region. With over 100,000 visitors annually, the castle is one of the most popular and tourist attractions in the area and it is definitely worth a visit if you are around.
