I encourage you to get out your best trees today and post it to #TreeTuesday with the Old Man old guy. Don't forget to post your link in the comment section of his TreeTuesday post. It makes it so much easier to find all the posts when they are in one spot. You know how feeble the is getting.
Let's help him out! Give the Old Man a break!
The Appalachian Trail. I get goosebumps just saying the name. It is pretty exciting when you are planning your first hike through on it and you just know you should be able to complete a huge amount of it.
Yeah. Well, reality struck about day two and I looked at the map and decided that I wasn't going to complete even the State by the weeks' end. Sigh Fail.
But, wait. I had no idea that so many people hiked in sections, which is exactly what I started doing after that. What a difference an attitude makes. :)
It is an amazing experience, the scenery is to die for and I will go at the drop of a hat. Again and again. Who is in? Raise your hand and I will meet you at a trailhead!
We did a hike on The Appalachian Trail this summer. One was about 38 miles in Virginia and 39 miles on the North Carolina/Tennesee border. Two separate hikes on two separate months.
This was actually mostly pretty easy but we got up to a moderate climb there towards the end of our day. We pitched a tent and called it a night. We have been doing parts of the trail for years now. Sometimes we spend a few days, once, early on we did about 5 days.
That is a long time out on the trail. There are things like work and life that get in the way and then, you just have to wait until next time
I took pictures of all the markers for the Appalachian Trail. Well, not all, but I did at the trailheads, so I would remember which ones we hit.
It is always exciting to come upon another and another. I would show you the flora and fauna, but, honestly, it is a #TreeTuesday post and I am trying to respect that.
I love it. I do. This land is your land too. Let's take care of her and enjoy her beauty. Please clean up after yourself when hiking in the forests. Thank you. Let's keep America clean.
Let the sun shine in on your life
So the joy may touch your soul
