Today is #TreeTuesday by ! I have only a single tree photo to post, but pound-for-pound this tree may outweigh all the rest, and it is only a baby!
Back in 1858, the state of California gave some Giant Sequoia seedlings to the city of Victoria as a gift. (Paying off some gold-rush gambling debt? I have no idea why...) In any case, some of those seedlings have thrived, and this tree is now known to be the 2nd tallest tree in town.
At 160 years of age, this tree is a baby. Giant Sequoia can live to be 2,000 years or older. Let's all try to check back on this tree in the year 3,858 and see how it's doing on its 2,000th birthday! I'm hoping with advances in medical science, we'll all still be here, Steeming away! Happy Tuesday :)
