Hi Steemians
Im loving this Tree Tuesday idea, and hope you all enjoyed last weeks “Red in Japan”. This week we are going to dive into the Jungle with a beast of a.... well more plant than tree!!
Picture taken on a Cannon S95
This was taken in Jungle in North Laos and held a special place in the locals heart. I believe the tree is part of the Dipterocarpaceae family of trees.
The Dipterocarps are a family of hardwood tropical trees found around Southeast Asia . These trees can grow extremely tall and help form the rainforest canopy. Last year scientists found the tallest tropical trees in the Borneo Jungle which measured 94.1meters!!!! This is second only to the giant California redwoods.
I took this picture as I love the way the liana, vines and creepers have completely taken over, giving it that stereotypical Jungle vibe!!
