This shot was taken a looooong time ago, in the Summer of 2009. I think it's a perfect shot for the #treetuesday initiative by .
This photo was captured during a Summer vacation to the beaches of Vila Nova de Milfontes, in the Alentejo region of Portugal.
Back then I was just a young lad with a super lame mobile phone and no money to buy a camera. The photos during that Summer were taken with an old Digital Camera, a Samsung L110 that was lent to me for that trip.
This is the original photo, which I think it's a bit dark and with low contrast... but that's what came out, at that time.
I tried to edit it using GIMP to see if it would get any better, but it only got worse. As you can see below, after a simple White Balance correction, most details from the trees have vanished altogether. Even the green colour from the tree leaves disappeared. 🙄
Oh well... let's try to Enhance the Colour, I thought to myself. And guess what? It got even worse. Way worse! 😔
Now, it looks like a kid have taken apart a few pens and blurred paint all over it. What the heck has just happened? 🤔
When something like this occurs, the only solution I have is to go back to the first version and leave the photo as it is. After all, I'm merely an amateur playing around with a Free Software Editing Program, not a Professional! 😁
I hope you liked this post... and may these tips be useful to you. Also, if you have any tips for an Amateur like me about improving photos using GIMP, feel free to share them. 🤗
