Beech tree growing over my driveway finally got the haircut it needed. I bought a pole chain saw for this tree particularly as well as the rest that need trimming.
Before the trimming
The branches were growing over the electric wires feeding the house. I should have trimmed the tree earlier but I'm a naturalist and like to see nature free and wild. But nature was getting too close for comfort....
Got my next store neighbor to help me. Used his pickup truck to stand on to reach higher up and also be insulated from electric shock in case the worst happened.
After the cutting
Now you can see the electric wires.

Before
The tree is a bit special since I planted it when I first got here 40 years ago. I had dug up two Beech saplings and planted them in the back of the property. When I saw they weren't getting enough light I moved them to the front. There are two trees in there about 25 feet apart. The one by the driveway I planted second and added leaf debris and horse manure to the planting hole. It took off real strong.
These trees can live ten times the age it is now 400 + years. The house will have to be moved by then :-)....
The American Beech, Fagus grandifolia is a magnificant tree growing over 100 feet high with smooth silver gray bark with deep colored green leaves. Only weakness is it's shallow roots but it does put down many.
